Understanding Your Divine Identity.
Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Christianity does not begin with something you do. Christianity begins with something God has done for you in Christ. Everything God did in Christ He did for you, and it is credited to your account as if you did it. All of these things are of God. 2 Corinthians 5:17-18.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,
Our position in Christ is an eternal position. Your position is what ought to determine your condition.
Your position is unchangeable because it’s God’s workmanship but your condition is subject to change.
Your condition does not have the capacity to change your position, but your position has all the divine ability to change and transform your condition.
Your position is in Christ. As a Christian your condition ought to follow your position in Christ. If your condition is contrary to your divine position then you keep working out your salvation – your divine position – until your condition matches your divine position. Never accept your condition for your position. Your condition is subject to change, but your position is immutable and unchangeable, you cannot change your position.
Yes you can disregard your position but you cannot change your position. You may leave or walk out of your position, your position will continue to remain. Luke 15:11-24.
Luke 15:17
“ But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
Our divine identity is our identification with Christ. It means our union with Him in all phases of His redemptive work. Everyone who believes in Christ must become identified with Him in every phase of His life, death, burial, resurrection and manifestation. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15.
2 Corinthians 5:14-15
14 For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;
15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.
Christ identified himself with man and became sin for man that he might become the righteousness of God in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:21; For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
He became man’s substitute and died in his place. He died to make man live, to make him well and healthy; to make him strong and victorious over all his enemies; to make him joyful and prosperous; and to take him to heaven to live forever with Himself and God.
Union with Christ means that we are crucified to the world and the world to us. Galatians 2:20; 6:14; that there is nothing in us that the world desires or that we desire of the world; that we are free from sin and satan and from sickness and failure; and that we are sons of God with power capable of representing God and exercising the full power of attorney [legal representative] according to the Gospel.
Not only did Christ become sin for us, but He became sick for us that we might be made well. Isaiah 53:3-5,AMP. It shocks us to know that all these sufferings were heaped upon Him and that it pleased God to cause Him such agonies so that all creation could be redeemed. He was so sinful and sick during this period and was so forsaken by God, who detested the sins and sicknesses of the whole world concentrated in His body until He cried, “My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?”
Christ not only bore sins and sicknesses and pains, but they were laid upon Him so that He could do away with them. The whole person of Christ was involved in this sacrifice. The body, soul and spirit of Christ took part and suffered this agony. Every man was nailed to the cross with Christ and every sin and sicknesses and pains that any man ever had or ever will have was put upon Him.
When we as believers recognize this fact and believe and identify ourselves with Christ we will get the benefits that were made possible by this sacrifice. If He bore our sins, no longer are we required to have them or be bound by them; if He bore our sicknesses, no longer must we suffer them. Satan has no legal right to put any sin or sicknesses upon us and we have redemptive rights to reject such works of the devil in our lives.
Identification is defined as “considering or treating as the same; the condition or fact of being the same in all qualities under consideration”. Your identity is who you are. Your spiritual identification is stronger than your physical identification. In Christ, you are a brand new creation.
If you don’t know who you are, you won’t know how to live. Identity is your foundation. If you think differently, you will live differently and function differently.
Being in Christ.
In Christ means in union with Christ, to be one with Christ. 1 Corinthians 6:17, “But he who is joined to the LORD is one spirit with Him”
In Christ righteousness has been imparted to your spirit. 2 Corinthians 5:21. This righteousness is a gift. It is the same righteousness that Christ and His Father possessed. In Christ, you are as righteous as God the Father is righteous. You will never be any more righteous than you are right now. You cannot grow in righteousness. You can grow in sanctification and holiness, but righteousness is a gift.
Righteousness means that you have right standing with God.
Romans 8:10 compare John 1:4; Matt. 5:14. Our spirit is life because of righteousness. Righteousness of God made our spirit to have life. Now, Jesus said, you are the light of the world; in Him was life, and the life was the light of men. We are the light of the world because we possess the life. It is the life that produces the light. And the life comes when righteousness was imparted to our spirit. You cannot be the light if you do not have the life.
Romans 8:1. You will never get the best of God’s blessings as long as you live with a sense of condemnation, guilt and unworthiness. You must understand that you have the ability of God inside you because you are in Christ. Righteousness is God’s ability to do right and be right. You have the ability to live in victory. You have the ability to be healthy. You have the ability to reign over sin. You have the ability to be prosperous. Living with condemnation will deprive you of divine ability. Understanding your divine identity gives the grace to live without condemnation. You know you have been made free from the law of sin and death.
Knowing and understanding your right standing with God is the requirement to reign over every situations and circumstances. Romans 5:17. When you understand the power of the gift of righteousness, you will reign in life as king thru the One man, Jesus Christ.
Laws of Divine Identity.
The Law of Revelation Knowledge. You identify or find yourself in the word. Revelation knowledge is how God changes people’s identities. The Bible is inspired and is God-breathed. God’s word is alive, and you can find yourself in the Bible. 2 Timothy 2:16-17. In Luke 4:16-20, Jesus studied and searched the scriptures and found the places which referred to him. Jesus had to recognize Himself in the Word. We must find ourselves in the word of God. The Bible is the voice of God to us. You true identity is in the word of God. This is the law of revelation knowledge. Philippians 3:9,”And be found in Him…” Colossians 2:3; Colossians 2:9,10; Luke 15:17. John 14:26. John 16:13.
To find yourself in Him, you have to find yourself in the written Word of God. When you see who He is, He will tell you who you are. When you see Him as the Great Healer, He tells you that you are healed and healthy. When you see Him as the Great Provider, He tells that all you needs has been supplied. If you have lost your identity or destiny, it can be found in Christ. If you don’t know your identity, then go to the Word of God. 1 John 4:17, “because as He is, so are we in this world”
The Law of Identification. Romans 5:12, 19. Your first birth puts you in first Adam; your new birth puts you in Christ – second Adam. As we shared the same identical condition with Adam, we share the same identical condition with Christ. What satan did in Adam, God reversed in Christ. The first Adam got us in this mess, and every one of us is identified with Adam thru the law of identification. Galatians 2:20. The first birth is in first Adam. The second birth, when you are born again, puts you in the last Adam, and you are a new creation. Romans 3:10-18. Identity of the first Adam. Romans 3:24; 2 Cor.5:21. Identity of the last Adam.
The Law of Substitution. 2 Corinthians 5:14. Jesus took our place. He took our curse and died our death. He took our condition (position) so we could have his condition (position). He was identified with us. We were there in His death, burial and resurrection. He was our substitute in the work of redemption. Everything Jesus did, He did for us and it is credited to our account as if we did it. Romans 6:3-8.
Because He died for us, we died with Him. Because He was raised for us, we were raised with Him. Ephesians 2:1-8. 2 Corinthians 5:21. Everything God did in Christ, He did for us. The same power, mighty exceeding power that raised Jesus from the dead, the same mighty exceeding great power God used to regenerate and made us alive in Christ. Because that power was released for our sake in Christ.
The Law of Sameness or Being Identical. Romans 8:11. Your identification with Christ is wrapped around an identical identity – sameness – to be the same in all qualities under consideration.
Confession: I am identified with Christ in His death and resurrection. Right now, I have an identical life and the same spirit, same righteousness, same victory and same blessing. I am joined to and with Christ. The same spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in me. The believer has identical, same life that raised Christ from dead. We share the same righteousness and same victory. God did not give us as inferior product. Whatever Jesus has got, I have and you have. Romans 8:17.
When Jesus was crucified, He took you with Him because He took your identical nature. As a matter of fact, when God saw Jesus on the cross, He saw you. Jesus literally took your sin, death, curse, shame and condition. Since you were there in His death, you were there when God quickened Him and made Him alive. Ephesians 2:4-6.
