Numbers 14:6-9
And Joshua … and Caleb…. rent their clothes: And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us;…Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us:

Author PhotoOur text above reflects Joshua and Caleb's response to the frustration and mindset of the people of Israel after they received the evil report of the other ten spies following their return from the land that God had promised. Can you imagine that the Israelites actually considered returning to the bondage of their past in Egypt?

Caleb, on the other hand, described the giants of the land as “bread.” What do you do with bread? Of course, you eat it and it nourishes your body and your health! That is what every challenge we face is going to be to us. Challenges are the bread of champions.

The giants in the land who caused trepidation and frustration in the Israelites' hearts symbolize every challenge that stands between us and the promises and great things that God has promised and planned for us as a nation and even as individuals. In Numbers 14:24, God described Caleb as having “a different spirit,” adding that Caleb and his seed would enter and possess the Promised Land. The grace to maintain the “different spirit” of Caleb and Joshua is upon us today.

You and I are God's champions. We embody His power and Spirit and His presence is with us. Nothing can or will stop us from making progress as a nation and becoming all that God has destined that we will be. Determine that from today, no evil report will place fear into your heart. We will view challenges as “bread,” face them and consume them. God's strength and wisdom will cause us to experience all of His promises and His will for our lives and our nation.

PRAYER FOCUS: Declare in faith that the grace to view our challenges as bread is upon us today. Declare that God's wisdom and strength are upon us as a nation to forge forward and experience His promises.
