Supernatural Strength & Hope for the Journey
1 Kings 19:5-8 (NIV)
…All at once an angel touched him and said, "Get up and eat." … He ate and drank and then lay down again. The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, "Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you." So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.

There are two major things that Elijah was ignorant about in our text above. Firstly, he was ignorant about the length of the journey he was about to embark upon and secondly he was ignorant about the amount of strength he would receive from the food provided for him by the Angel of God. This is why, initially, he ate just a little of the food before returning to sleep. The fear and frustration he was feeling because of the threat from Jezebel was rendering him hopeless and lackadaisical about embarking upon what the Angel of God had instructed him to do. It is because God knows what lies ahead of us that He usually leads us to pray, fast, study His Word, draw near to Him, do His will, build and prepare ourselves both spiritually and otherwise.
How do we respond whenever we receive these leadings in our hearts? Do we allow the distractions and discouragements around us to cause us to ignore God's leading or do we arise by faith and do what God is leading us to do abundantly? The journey ahead of you is great and you are going to receive great strength as you continually follow God's leading to do those things that will build divine strength into you. God wants to manifest and reveal Himself to you in greater ways. Elijah felt it was over but God had more things for him to experience and accomplish. Do not let any threat cause you to lose hope in the fact that God has called you to do exploits and that He has great plans for your life and family. Today God will fill you with supernatural strength and hope for the great plans He has for your life.
PRAYER:Heavenly Father, I ask that you stir up your supernatural strength and hope in me for the journey that is ahead of me.
