Called to Be Holy

Ephesians 1:4 (NIV), 1Corinthians 1:2-3 (GNB)
For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight in love. *To the church of God which is in Corinth, to all who are called to be God's holy people, who belong to him in union with Christ Jesus, together with all people everywhere who worship our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours: May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Some days ago, we studied the fact that when God calls us something, it is because He has made us that way. The King James Version of our second text above reminds us that we have been sanctified and called to be saints. Likewise, in Ephesians 1:1, Apostle Paul addressed the believers as saints because that is what God has made us here and now. We do not have to wait until we arrive in Heaven. Because God has called us saints and has given us to grace to walk as saints, He expects us to believe His Word about us.

In 1Corinthians 3:16, Apostle Paul said, know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? When Apostle Paul heard of believers living in sin, his question was: don't you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourselves but to God; he bought you for a price. So use your bodies for God's glory, 1Cor.6:19-20 (GNB).

The reason many believers are not living a sacred (holy) life as we have been called to is because many do not realize that they are the temple of God and that God has taken up residence within them. They do not realize that God calls them holy and sanctified (set apart). Many believers are also ignorant of the fact that they died with Christ and whoever they decide to yield themselves to is who they will ultimately serve, Rom. 6:3 & 16. As you enlarge your revelation of the fact that God has made you holy and as you continue to refer to yourself as God's holy temple, God's grace to live a holy life will manifest in you.

PRAYER FOCUS: Thank God for making you holy in Christ and declare in faith that you are holy and that God's Holy Spirit resides in you.
