Empowered to Train and Mentor Others

THURSDAY
MAR. 9

 Exodus 35:30-34 (GNB)
Moses said …"The LORD has chosen Bezalel…God has filled him with his power and given him skill, ability, and understanding for every kind of artistic work, for planning skillful designs and working them in gold, silver, and bronze; for cutting jewels to be set; for carving wood; and for every other kind of artistic work. The LORD has given to him and to Oholiab son of Ahisamach, from the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach their crafts to others.

Author PhotoTraining and mentoring others is so important that not only did God give Bezalel and Oholiab the ability to be skillful in various works by His Spirit, He also gave them the ability to teach these various skills unto others. Many times, we are not sensitive enough to the opportunities that God brings our way to teach and mentor others. After Eli eventually perceived that God was calling Samuel, he taught Samuel how to respond to God's call upon his life. This was the beginning of one of the greatest prophets Israel ever had, 1Sam.3:1-10. Aquila and Priscilla saw Apollos ministering God's Word and they took him to their home and helped him understand God's Word better. Because of this, many more people were greatly helped by Apollos' ministry, Acts 18:24-28.

Elijah told Elisha what to do to receive a double portion of the anointing that was upon his own life, 2Kings2:9-14. Apostle Paul admonished Timothy to commit everything he had learned from him to faithful men who would be able to teach others also, 2Tim. 2:2. This is a major way by which we can disciple others. Like we saw with Eli and Samuel, there are little things we can teach others that can greatly benefit both them and many generations. Discover the gifts of God in people and help to guide, train and stir up those gifts. Deliberately teach people how to be better leaders (both at home and at work) and teach people how to channel their creativity and passion rightly. Teach people how to grow and be fervent in their walk with God and in their ministries and purpose.

PRAYER FOCUS: Ask God to help you to be more sensitive and able to maximize opportunities to train and mentor others.
