CGMG ABOVE ONLY - The Lion and the Lamb

The Lion and the Lamb

FRIDAY
MAR. 24

 Revelation 5:5-6
And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

Author PhotoIn our text above, Jesus is described as both a lion and a lamb. He was actually introduced to John as a lion but when John looked, what he saw was a lamb. Today, we will be blessed from our understanding of how Jesus can be simultaneously described as both a lion and a lamb. The lion and lamb nature of Jesus are two sides of Him by which He is our perfect Saviour and Redeemer. As the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, He roars, dominates and exercises His uncontestable influence over everything that is not the will of God for His people. As a lamb, Jesus loves, sacrifices life and makes intercession for His people to receive everything that is the will of God for them. He is the lamb that takes away the sin of the world, John 1:29. This is why Jesus could violently drive out those who were turning the house of God into a den of thieves (Luke 19:46) but yet, could be so loving that children desired to be around Him, Mark 10:13-15.

We must know when to be tough and when to be tender. As a lion, we are to dominate over sin, sickness, the devil and all evil and as a lamb, we are to love people and do whatever it takes for them to come to the saving knowledge of God's grace. God does not want us to dominate people. He wants us to dominate the earth (things and our environment). He wants us to love people and influence their lives positively and win them over to Him. God does not desire for any man or woman to perish. On the contrary, it is His desire that they all come to repentance, 2Pet.3:9. This does not mean that we should not discipline or speak the truth. It means that whatever we do unto men must be done in love. We can speak truth to power and speak the truth in love

PRAYER FOCUS:
Thank God for both the lion and the lamb nature of Christ that resides in you. Receive His wisdom to manifest them rightly.
