Do Not Become Overfamiliar With God

SUNDAY
JUL. 24

Matthew 13:54, 55 &58
And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father.

Author PhotoBecoming too familiar with God can cause you to miss out on the glorious things that God has in store for you. Never get to the point where you believe that you know all there is to know or have experienced all you need to experience about God. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever but there are still so many more dimensions of His powerand glory that He is yet to reveal unto you. The Bible records that when Jesus went to Nazareth - His hometown - He could not do many mighty works there because of the way they chose to view Him. They saw Him as an ordinary man that they had known for many years and so they could not believe Him or experience all of the mighty power that God sought to manifest in their lives through Christ. Their over familiarity produced unbelief in their hearts and their unbelief limited the manifestation of Christ's power in their lives.

Do not become too familiar with ministers of God. Always expect God to bless you mightily through them. 1 Thess. 2:13 (NIV) says, and we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe. Resist the temptation to become too familiar with your Bible or God's presence. Every time you pick up your Bible, have an opportunity to hear God's Word or to spend time in God's presence, expect a fresh revelation and touch from God. Stop trying to analyze or wonder how possible God's Word is; just believe God and act in line with His Word. You will see the glory of God in your life. Your job is to believe and it is
God's job to manifest His glory and power.

PRAYER FOCUS: Heavenly Father, I thank you for the new revelations and fresh touch you have for me today. I open up myself to you.
