Faith to Reject Evil

SUNDAY
SEPT. 18

Hebrews 11:24-27
By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

Author PhotoBy faith, Moses was willing to suffer affliction with the people of God than enjoy the temporary pleasures of sin. He was more willing to please God than his flesh. He loved righteousness and hated evil. To him, suffering with Christ was more valuable than enjoying sin for a moment.

Moses did not fear the wrath of the king of Egypt because he was seeing the glory of the invisible God. The reward and glory we labor for is an eternal and incorruptible crown which awaits us in heaven, 1Cor.9:25 and 1Pet.1:4. We have been raised up together with Christ; that is why we must set our affections on the things that are above, not on the things of the earth, Col.3:2. We have been crucified to this world and this world has been crucified to us, Gal.6:14.

We are not of this world. We are different. We are passionate about the things that please God more than anything else. The love of the Father is in us, not the lusts of this world, 1John 2:15. Remembering that we are strangers and pilgrims on this earth will help us to abstain from fleshly lusts that war against our souls, 1Pet.2:11. There is an anointing that is
coupled with loving righteousness and hating iniquity, Heb.1:9. Our passion and desire for righteousness should clearly reflect how much we hate evil and iniquity. We must continue to deliberately love spiritual things and spiritual exercises that will build our faith and relationship with God.

PRAYER FOCUS: Declare in faith that God's nature in you is causing you to love righteousness and hate iniquity more.
