The Word gives Eternal Life

SUNDAY
SEPT. 24

John 6:63, 67-68 (GNB)
What gives life is God's Spirit; human power is of no use at all. The words I have spoken to you bring God's life-giving Spirit. *So he asked the twelve disciples, "And you---would you also like to leave?" Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.

Author PhotoOur text refers to how many people were offended and opted not to follow Jesus after He made it clear that they needed Him and His Word above everything else. The reason Peter and the other disciples chose not to leave Jesus as the multitudes did was because they had discovered that the words that Jesus was speaking to them were not ordinary words. They were words filled with the life
giving power of God.

If you fill yourself with the Word of God and the revelation of Christ, your life will not be ordinary. Colossians 3:16 says, let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly. When the Word of God is conceived in your heart, the Holy Spirit will see to it that it is birthed and manifested in your life. He will make it your reality. Value, search and study the Word of God. Be sensitive and attentive to the Word of God. Jesus said that if we continue in His words, we are His disciples indeed because we will know the truth and the truth will set us free, John 8:31-32.

The Word of God will cause you to be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, Psa.1:2-3. In Psalm 119:11, the Psalmist made it clear that it was the
Word of God that he hid in his heart that kept him from sinning against God.

Increase your passion for listening, studying, meditating, speaking, praying, doing and preaching the Word of God. Have faith in the Word of God. Value it and study it more than you value and study any other book or material. The Word of God will continue to stir up and produce more of the divine life and power of God in you.

PRAYER FOCUS: Tell God you desire more of His Word in your life. Receive His grace to fill yourself with more of His Word and to practice and preach His Word
more as well.
