GIVING OF THANKS
"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority . . . ." — 1 TIMOTHY 2:1,2
The Word of God is clear on this subject. I believe many Christians have practiced this scripture to some extent, but I believe we have somewhat neglected the “giving of thanks.” God wants us to offer thanksgiving to Him. And we have much to thank God for! But too many Christians are always griping and talking about what is wrong with our nation. The Bible does not tell us as Christians to do that.
Instead, as Christians we are exhorted to make supplications, prayers, intercessions, and the giving of thanks for our leaders. (It is impossible that our prayers for them would work at the same time we’re criticizing them.)
Confession
"I give thanks according to God’s Word for my country’s leaders. I give thanks for this great country."
