But even though he was God's Son, he learned through his sufferings to be obedient. When he was made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. *It was only right that God, who creates and preserves all things, should make Jesus perfect through suffering, in order to bring many children to share his glory. God does not allow us to go through trials just for trials’ sake. He allows us to go through trials so that our faith will be tested and perfected, just like gold (1Pet.1:7). Trials also prepare and position us to fulfill God’s will and purpose for our lives. Our trials are certainly opportunities for us to learn how to yield to God, but they are also channels through which God preparesus to be a blessing unto others.
Does it not amaze you that even Jesus the Son of God had to learn obedience by the things He went through? Just as He did, you and I also have to use the things that we are going through as an opportunity to learn how to obey and yield to God. Apostle Paul’s sufferings resulted from the nature of the assignment that God gave to Him, Acts 9:11-16. You will also go face trials as a result of the assignments God has for your life. One of Apostle Paul’s prayers was to be like Christ in His death, Phil.3:10 (GNB). He wanted to be obedient and yielded to God as Christ was, even as He died for us on the Cross.
Just like Christ, the things that you go through can cause you to save and strengthen others. There are things that God will allow you to go through because they will position you and prepare you to help and minister to people in your future who may be passing through a similar situation. With God’s power, your compassion, wisdom and testimony, God will greatly strengthen and heal the lives of many people through you.
PRAYER FOCUS: Thank God for how the things you are going through are preparing you to fulfill His purpose for your life and to be a blessing unto others.
