2. Know Your Enemy.
The life of the Believer in Christ Jesus is one that portrays victory and dominion. The Believers life involves knowing and walking in the knowledge of who he is in Christ, what he has in Christ and what God is doing in him by His Word through the Holy Spirit. The Believer in Christ ought to know his authority in Christ and exercise it over Satan and his demons. The Believer in Christ has been made alive together with Christ, raised up together with Him and made to seat together with Him in the heavenly places. Ephesians 2: 1-6. The Scripture says we reign and rule in this life as kings through Jesus Christ. Romans 5: 17. The only way we can have confidence in our authority over the enemy is to know and walk in the light of the written Word of God.
The Christian ought to be filled with knowledge of the Word of God in all wisdom. Our Father desires to fill us with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. This enables us to walk and pattern our life in a manner that is fitting unto the Lord. For in doing this, our victory and dominion in Christ is enforced and sustained. Colossians 1: 9-11. Our Father does not want us to be ignorant of spiritual things. Because lack of knowledge in any area of life could lead to defeat and frustration for us. We are to have the knowledge of the working of His kingdom and His righteousness. In the same vein, God wants us to be aware of the devices of the enemy. We ought to be aware of the strategy and scheme of the enemy Satan. 1 Corinthians 14: 20
2 Corinthians 2:11 KJV Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
When we become ignorant of the strategy of the devil, he will take advantage of us. We must be enlightened in the Word of God in our hearts so that we will not be deceived by the devil. We have to have knowledge of his deceptions and how to deal with them according to the Word of God, which is the sword of the Spirit. Our heavenly Daddy does not want the devil to take advantage of us, hence He reveals to us by His Word and the Holy Spirit the devices of Satan and how to deal and overcome the devices. 1 Corinthians 14: 20.
Ephesians 6:10 KJV Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. (11) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
The Bible says we should be able to stand against the wiles (methods, trickery, stratagems) of the devil. This we can be able to do by putting on the whole armour of God. This involves having and walking in the wisdom of God and understanding of the light of the Word by the Holy Spirit. Psalm 119: 97-98, 130.
Every believer can come to the point where he will never be deceived by the devil. How? By becoming wiser than the devil through the ministry of the Word of God. What you do not know may kill you. Knowledge is power and light. When you walk in the light, you are guaranteed to know where you are going and to see the path to lead you there. It is wisdom to walk in the light of the Word. Because it is the absence of knowledge that bring people to destruction and frustration.
Therefore, for you to effectively enforce your victory and dominion over Satan, you need to have the understanding of his nature and character as revealed by his name in the Word. The Word of God exposes the work of darkness, because the Word is light. Ephesians 5: 11-13. You have to know he is a defeated enemy. Jesus Christ defeated him inside his domain and in the presence of all the demons and hosts of hell. Jesus Christ paralyzed and dethroned and made him to become nothing. He was rendered powerless and without any authority. He was openly defeated and Jesus triumphed over him and his hosts of darkness. Satan can only defeat you in the arena of your mind and flesh; hence you are required to renew your mind and discipline your body and bring it into subjection to your recreated spirit. Romans 12: 1-2; 1 Corinthians 9: 27. Your responsibility is to enforce his defeat and stand in your victory over Satan by walking consistently in the light of the Word of God.
