The Reality Of Redemption In Christ.
Romans 3:24 KJV
(24) Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
(Romans 6:1-14 (SR.). Christ is our kinsman-Redeemer. Ruth 3:9. Jesus is our close relative/near kinsman. Jesus is the Family Redeemer. Ruth 2:20; Ruth 3:9,12; Ruth 4:1-10. He's the nearest relative.
Leviticus 25:23-34; Leviticus 25:35-55; Numbers 35:9-34. Compare psalm 49:7-8)
Redemption is God paying the ransom or price for sin Himself. Redemption is deliverance by the payment of a price. The very word Redemption suggests a bondage, a slavery and an emancipation. We were in bondage to Satan. We were slaves to spiritual death that reigned in us and over us. Through the redemption in Christ, we were loose and set free from dominion of Satan and sin and darkness.
Christ is our Kinsman-Redeemer. Christ came to our level just as Moses went down into Egypt and became a Hebrew among the Hebrews that he might free them. So Jesus came down and became a man among men. He came in the likeness of man.
Hebrews 2:14-15 KJV
(14) Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
(15) And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
He was born of a woman and born under the law. He came in the likeness of men, so that he might be able to redeem those who were under the law, that they might receive the adoption as sons. He went to the cross as a man, the God man. God put upon Him our sins, our weakness. He became a subject of Satan.
Isaiah 53: 6 All we like sheep have gone astray [be deceive, err, be out of the way]; we have turned every one to his own way [a course of life or mode of action], and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all (or made the iniquity of us all to meet on Him).
He was made sin for us though He knew no sin. We were made the righteousness of God in Him though we knew no righteousness. Down under the dominion of the enemy He went to set us free. After He had paid the penalty of our transgression and union with Satan and the great apostasy of the first man, He set us free and justified us through His blood by faith in Him. 2 Corinthians 5: 21.
He met the adversary and conquered him, stripped him of the authority that he once took from man and then He arose from the dead. All this was done as a substitute. He did it for us. It was though we had done it. When He was nailed to the cross, we were nailed with Him.
When He suffered, we suffered with Him. When He was made sin, it was with our sin.
When He paid the penalty for our transgression, it was as though we had paid the penalty.
When He was justified it was our justification. When He was born again, it was our birth. When He conquered the adversary, it was our victory. We conquered the adversary. When He arose from the dead, we arose with Him. Ephesians 2: 1-6. When He sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high, we were seated with Him. His work of Redemption is our work. His victory is our victory.
Exodus 6:6-8 MSG
(6) Therefore tell the Israelites: "I am GOD. I will bring you out from under the cruel hard labor of Egypt. I will rescue you from slavery. I will redeem you, intervening with great acts of judgment.
(7) I'll take you as my own people and I'll be God to you. You'll know that I am GOD, your God who brings you out from under the cruel hard labor of Egypt.
(8) I'll bring you into the land that I promised to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and give it to you as your own country. I AM GOD."
