Be Passionate about Pleasing the Father (1)
2Samuel 7:1-3
And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies; That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains. And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the LORD is with thee.

Success has a way of revealing what is truly in the hearts of people. In Luke 12:15-21, God called a man a fool because he saw his success as an opportunity to become proud, to boast of his strength and to enjoy himself. After God granted David peace from all his enemies, the first thing that came to David's mind was building a temple for God's Ark to be maintained.
Even though God did not allow David to physically construct this temple, God was so impressed by David's desire to please Him that God made great promises and declarations to David and His entire generation, 2Sam.7:4-16. Jesus was also so passionate about pleasing the Father that He described doing the Father's will was His meat, i.e., as what gave Him satisfaction, John 4:34. In order to please the Father, Jesus was prepared to fellowship with the Father and to sacrifice His own will for the Father's. That is precisely why He agreed to come down to suffer and die for our salvation.
God does not exist for our pleasure; we exist for His. Revelation 4:11 reveals that God made all things for His pleasure. God desires to receive more joy and pleasure from we who are His children. As God continues to love you and grant you the desires of your heart, will you continue to love Him and desire to know and grant Him the desires of His heart? Does your heart really desire to please God and bring joy to His heart? If this is your desire, as you fellowship with God, His Spirit will continue to reveal God's will and desires to you.
PRAYER FOCUS: Tell God that you desire to please Him and ask Him to fill your heart with the same passion that Jesus has to please Him.
