The Reality of Our Redemption In Christ.
Exodus 6:6-8 MSG
(6) Therefore tell the Israelites: "I am GOD. I will bring you out from under the cruel hard labor of Egypt. I will rescue you from slavery. I will redeem you, intervening with great acts of judgment.
(7) I'll take you as my own people and I'll be God to you. You'll know that I am GOD, your God who brings you out from under the cruel hard labor of Egypt.
(8) I'll bring you into the land that I promised to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and give it to you as your own country. I AM GOD."
The Scripture above gives us the vivid picture of what redemption entails. It shows that the LORD is the Author of our redemption in Christ. It is God Who planned the redemption and brings it to fulfillment. We can deduce the following from the Scriptures.
Redemption is Wholly from God.
God is the originator of our redemption in Christ. Jonah 2: 9 KJV But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. Salvation is of the LORD. It is unto GOD that salvation belongs. Our redemption has got no input from us. All we need to do is to trust Him enough to do all He has planned.Ephesians 2: 8 KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Redemption is all GODs idea. It is all His work. All we do is trust Him to let Him do it. It is Gods gift from start to finish. We do not play any major role. If we did, we would probably go around bragging that we had done the whole thing. Salvation is only available in the name of the LORD. His name is salvation. He planned it and He fulfilled it. We received it when we believe Him. Psalm 27: 1; Acts 4: 12.
Redemption is Through a Person.
John 3:16-17 MSG(16) "This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life.
(17) God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.
God had to send His only begotten Son born of a woman and in the likeness of men. God gave His Son Jesus Christ that whosoever believes in Him shall have eternal life. God gave Moses to deliver the children of Israel from the bondage of Egypt. God gave Jesus Christ to redeem and save the world from the dominion of Satan and sin. The Bible says He was called Jesus for He shall save His people from their sins. Galatians 4: 4-5; Isaiah 7: 14; 9: 6; Philippians 2: 5-8; Hebrews 2: 9-10.
Redemption is By Blood.
1 Peter 1:18-19 KJV(18) Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
(19) But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Jesus Christ redeemed us by His blood, His precious blood. Exodus 12: 13, 23, 27. The blood is the price that was paid for our sins. The blood of Jesus Christ was shed for remission of our sins. Hebrews 9: 12 but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. Redemption was obtained on the merit of the blood of the Lamb of God. The life of a man is in his blood. So, when Jesus shed HIS blood, He poured out life for us. He paid the price with His life. Leviticus 17: 11, 14; Matthew 26: 28; Ephesians 1: 7; Colossians 1: 14, 20; Hebrews 9: 12-14, 19-28.
Redemption is by Power.
Ephesians 1:18-21 KJV(18) The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
(19) And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
(20) Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
(21) Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
It was by the outstretched arm and mighty hand and great judgments that God had to redeem and deliver the children of Israel from the bondage of slavery. Similarly, God redeemed us in Christ according to the effectual working of His mighty, endless and boundless power. This exceeding greatness of His power was made active in Christ when He raised Him from spiritual death and made Him to seat at His own right hand in the heavenly places. Colossians 2: 14-15; Hebrews 2: 14; 1 Peter 1: 3-5; Romans 1: 4. Compare Hebrews 10: 19, 20-25.
