DOESN’T COME EASY

-JOB 28:1-11

KEY VERSE:

"He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing" (Job 28:10).

Great things are worth the high price they demand. This was what Job clearly understood. In his determined efforts to explain the fundamental truth about a pilgrim’s journey, Job gave a graphic description that must follow the search for wonderful, beautiful and precious things, which add value to life. To him, things must not only be carefully worked out, they must also be done with diligence and great strength of mind. Essentially, our text points out that all precious metals are always in the right places, but it is only when persons of focus, skill and doggedness make out something from them that these ordinary rocks would become useful. Searching for the right rocks is one thing, but burning the rocks in the hottest fire before they can produce pure metal is another thing. To find these special rocks, mortals must go underground, squeeze their bodies through cracks in the ground, enter the cave and descend further through ropes, slaving themselves out. They will also break the rocks before they can take the precious metals and make themselves rich. If mortals can make this great effort to get things of temporal, earthly value, what efforts and sacrifices are we making for things of eternal value? Unfortunately, many people only call the name of God when things are rosy whereas there are geologists and petroleum engineers who know what it takes to get oil from deep sea, and they pay the price. Why don’t you strive to get things of eternal value, which is more precious than earthly wealth? True children of God must bear transient phases of adversity in life with perseverance and state like the Psalmist that "though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil…". Children of God pass through fire and they are not consumed. Their souls follow hard after God and eternal glory.
Thought for the day: Absolute faith in God will help you to overcome challenges.
