Occupying in Government and Politics

MONDAY
JUN. 27

Proverbs 29:2, Psalm 2:10-12
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. *Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Author PhotoThere is a godly way to go about government and politics. God wants government leaders to be righteous and He wants His children to be involved in government and politics. God does not want us to simply sit down and complain about the things that are occurring in our nation. He wants us to use the abilities He has given us to get involved, enact justice and occupy till He comes.

As a government official or a leader in any capacity, you must realize that it is God who has placed you in that position of authority, Rom.13:1. Promotion comes from God. You must therefore seek to know God and do His will always. Let the good of the people be foremost in your mind. Be a good shepherd who is willing to risk his or her life to make sacrifices for the good of the sheep. Be bold. Be like David and Esther who stood up and faced challenges to remove reproach from God's people.

Be a man or woman of integrity. Uphold judgment and justice in all your activities. Do the right things and treat people rightly and fairly. Refuse bribes. Be godly and content, 1Tim.6:6. Be hardworking and diligent, Prov.12:24. In the Good News Bible, Romans 12:8b says, whoever has authority should work hard. If you rule well, you will be counted worthy of double honour both before God and man, 1Tim.5:17. Depend on God and He will continually give you His strength and wisdom. Be faithful and God will continue to promote you.

PRAYER  FOCUS:
Pray that our leaders will know God and walk in His righteous ways. Also, pray for grace upon God's children to occupy in government and politics.
