You Are Special

-DEUTERONOMY 7:1-7

Key Verse:

"For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God; the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto Himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth" (Deuteronomy 7:6).
Many people go through life totally unaware of the privileges and benefits God has prepared for them not only on earth, but in heaven. As a result, they assume that merely suffering lack in this life guarantees a better life in eternity. Some others go as far as believing that it is the height of spirituality and indeed a virtue, to relegate themselves far below God's expectations for their lives. Nothing can be farther than the truth. This is clearly evident in God's dealings with Israel. For one, Israel had a privileged place in the heart of the Almighty God. He expected them to be holy and had chosen and made them special in His sight, quite incomparable to any other people on earth. God did not choose the Israelites because they merited it, but because He loved them. They were, therefore, to have nothing to do with the people He had dis inherited and whose land He had given to Israel. What God provided for the Israelites in the Old Testament has now been extended to Christians. To enjoy this privilege, we must live without sin and above reproach. We must be mindful always that He has not only chosen us from the multitude of people on earth, but has made us unique, and has conferred on us the special status of royalty. We are privileged to have the Almighty as our Father. All the provisions of heaven are at our disposal and all the promises of God are ours to possess.
Thought for the day: Heaven's best is reserved for the called, chosen and faithful.
