2Kings 6:17, Ephesians 1:18 (GNB)
And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. *I ask that your minds may be opened to see his light, so that you will know what is the hope to which he has called you, how rich are the wonderful blessings he promises his people.

In Acts 26:18, Apostle Paul wrote that Jesus sent him to open the eyes of the Gentiles and to turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God. This was so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and the inheritance of those sanctified by faith in Jesus. Of course, Jesus was referring to their spiritual eyes. He was also letting Apostle Paul know that the opening of their eyes was the key to their transformation from darkness to light, to being free from the devil's power and to experiencing God's forgiveness, power and their divine inheritance. The opening of our spiritual eyes is something that every believer continually needs. God opens our spiritual eyes by granting us the spirit of wisdom and revelation to know Him. That is precisely why Apostle Paul prayed for the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the verse before our second text above.
The spirit of wisdom and revelation helps us understand God's Word and teaches us how to apply it to our lives. Every time God grants you understanding of His Word, He opens your spiritual eyes. You need to desire this continual opening of your spiritual eyes. If you desire the understanding of God's Word, prayerfully study and fill yourself with God's Word as you rely on the Holy Spirit to open and reveal it to you. The opening of your spiritual eyes causes you see things as God sees them. It will build and strengthen your faith the way Gehazi's faith was strengthened when his eyes were opened in our first text above. God's Word will become more real and alive to you.
PRAYER FOCUS: Ask God for greater wisdom and revelation of His Word. Pray for your spiritual eyes to be opened more and more.
