Seeking and Saving the Lost |

Luke 19:10 (GNB), Luke 15:1-4 (GNB)
The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. *One day when many tax collectors and other outcasts came to listen to Jesus, the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law started grumbling, "This man welcomes outcasts and even eats with them!" So Jesus told them this parable: Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them---what do you do? You leave the other ninety-nine sheep in the pasture and go looking for the one that got lost until you find it.

Are you waiting for the lost to come your way or seek you out before you reach out to them or are you going out of your way to seek the lost and touch them with God's saving power and grace? Jesus boldly declared that He came to seek and save the lost. This was not just a nice slogan to Him; it was His life's mission. He made the restoration of lost souls His priority and gave His all to this reconciliation. Even while dying on the Cross, Jesus was seeking and saving the lost, Luke 23:39-43.
Stop waiting for people to seek you out with their problems. Instead, go out of your way and be the solution that they seek. You must also remember that God did not only create man in His image and likeness, He created 'all things' by Christ and for Christ, Col. 1:16. This means that anyone that is not serving Christ is lost and anything that is not existing in a way that glorifies and honours Christ is also lost. This is why we also need to go into every sphere of our society and nation and ensure that God's will is being done in those places.
There is an old saying that you make time for what is important to you. When you are genuinely seeking after something, it reflects in your prioritization, commitment and sacrifice. If we are really going to seek and save the lost like Jesus did, then we must stop being satisfied with the fact that we and other believers are saved. We should not be satisfied until everyone around us, everyone that we know and even everyone on the face of the earth comes to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
PRAYER FOCUS: Pray for the lost right now and ask God to direct your steps today to people that need to be touched with His power and grace.
