The Man, Jesus

THE MAN, JESUS

Excerpts of Pastor Sola David-Borha's Message at the Sunshine Service on Sunday, April 17, 2016

Total Deliverance comes from the Man, Jesus. 1 John 3:8b says "For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil." Jesus came to this world for the singular purpose of destroying the works of the devil. Christianity is about accepting the Man, Jesus. It is not about rules, doctrines, traditions, practices, or habits. The same way people struggled 2, 000 years ago to accept Jesus for who He is, people still struggle now with the reality. Until you accept that Jesus is the only way that man can be saved, you cannot be truly delivered.
The first deliverance you need to experience, is accepting that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; He was born of a virgin, crucified, died, rose on the third day, and He is coming back. You have to hold onto His Words that He is coming back, and live your life knowing He is coming back. This has to be a personal revelation that is real. If you don't understand who Jesus genuinely is or see Him for who He is, you will struggle at every point in your life. Once you accept Jesus for who He is, deliverance is as simple as a, b, c.
THREE STEPS OF DELIVERANCE
A. Acknowledge Jesus: You must acknowledge that sinners, unbelievers, believers, we all need Jesus. It is also important that we acknowledge  our sins. A good prayer of deliverance can be seen in Psalm 51:3 which says "For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me." And Psalm 51:14 says "Deliver me from blood guiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness." There are many struggles we face; both external and internal. You are the one to perform the deliverance yourself through the Man, Jesus by holding onto Him and what the Word of God says. You have to acknowledge the issues you face, so that you can move forward. As a believer, the watchword for your deliverance is living a life of holiness (Obadiah 1:17). Romans 10:9 says "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
B. Believe Jesus: Believing in the Man Jesus, is compulsory. Believing Jesus comes from the heart, it is not processed mentally. The best way to describe belief, is falling in love with Jesus. If you cannot say you have fallen in love with Jesus, then there is work to be done. Fall in love with Jesus and believe that your relationship with Him is the most important relationship you can ever have. Falling in love with Jesus is ensuring that you please Him in everything you do and do not disappoint Him in any area of your life. When you fall in love with Jesus, it is no longer a transactional relationship (where all you do is come to Him with prayer points and get disappointed when a prayer is not answered), but it is a covenant relationship. When you fall in love with Jesus, it has to be a life-lasting covenant relationship that has absolutely nothing to do with what He gives you or what you can get from the relationship. As you love Jesus, you will find out that it is easier to love those around you, and your relationships improve with the people you relate to. Believing in Jesus means that you reciprocate His love that He gave to mankind. The important thing about loving Jesus is that you cannot love Him through someone else. Your love for Him has to be direct.
C. Confess Jesus: You must with your lips confess the LORD Jesus as your Saviour and LORD. Philippians 2:9-11 says "Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." When you confess Jesus, when you tell others about Jesus, when you evangelise and share with others what God has done for you, therein lies deliverance. Confessing Jesus brings deliverance. When people come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, it is important that they confess because without confession there can be no deliverance. Confessing Jesus needs to be said out, so that it becomes real.
THE PURPOSE OF DELIVERANCE
Deliverance is not an end in itself. Exodus 8:1 tells us what to do after being delivered and it says "And the LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Let my people go, that they may serve me." Your deliverance is meant for you to serve God in such a way that people will see your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven. You can serve God with your time, join the workforce in Church, give of your substance, your talents or your skills. The important thing is to serve God because you were not saved to sit in church and attend services, the real work is outside church. You will be amazed at how your service to God contributes to the Kingdom of God and the furtherance of the gospel. Your service might be small but it speaks volumes. Serve the LORD with all that you have - spirit, soul and body.
Serving God is also worshipping God. 1 Chronicles 16:29 says "Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." We also see how to worship God in Psalm 96:9 which says "O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth." The only way you can genuinely worship God is in holiness. Your worship will not be acceptable if you lift up unholy hands to God.
The other way you can serve God which ensures your deliverance, is believing and obeying the Word of God. There are people who choose and select the verses they like in the Bible, modify or rationalise the verses they don't like and turn these verses to suit them. True deliverance comes from believing the entirety of the Word of God which is the truth inspired by the Holy Spirit. When you believe the Word of God and meditate on it, it becomes your own word, and your own personal opinions starts to align with it. Hence, the only opinion you have is the Word of God, showing that Jesus is LORD over your life. When you truly stand on the Word of God, you will be free from the opinions of the world and have the confidence that you are walking on the right path.
Keep your eyes on Jesus as a guide in serving Him. Acknowledge that Jesus is indeed a Light in a very dark world. Total Deliverance comes from becoming more and more like Jesus (Proverbs 4:18). You have to increasingly become conformed to the image of God. Ensure that as you keep your eyes on Jesus and navigate your life through this dark world, you stay on the path of righteousness by obeying His every Word, hold onto Him, and continue to walk with Him all the way into eternity. Joel 2:32 says "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call." As you call on the Name of the LORD which is above all other names, God shall grant you Total Deliverance and show you mercy (Psalm 18:50).
True deliverance begins from being translated from the darkness of being separated from Jesus to the light of being a child of God. Have you committed your life to Jesus? Today is the day of salvation, confess your sins, make Jesus your personal LORD and Saviour, and He will grant you Total Deliverance.
