The Purpose of Deliverance

The Purpose of Deliverance

Excerpts of Pastor Remi Olumuyiwa's Message at the Sunshine Service on Sunday, April 24, 2016.

When a word of deliverance is given, the recipients of that word are not permitted to go without a substance. As it is characteristic with God and the little we know about Him, God is a God of purpose. God does nothing without a purpose. He created the earth for a purpose (Isaiah 45:18). If God is this purposeful, then there must be a purpose for our deliverance. Are we delivered for the purpose of going to Heaven? No! Going to Heaven is the ultimate purpose for deliverance but the primary purpose for deliverance is that we are delivered to carry out an assignment. Colossians 1:13 says "Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son." Although this Kingdom we are transferred to is Heavenly, it also has an earthly relevance. This Scripture says we are delivered from darkness, but it takes a greater power to deliver from another power. You have no reason to be afraid because a greater power delivered you from the power of darkness. What is peculiar about this Kingdom is that it is ruled by power, and in order for you to function effectively in this Kingdom and to establish the culture of the Kingdom on earth, you must be empowered. John 1:12 says "But as many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name." Therefore, the purpose of deliverance is for you to be empowered on your assignment on earth. Thus, you are delivered to be empowered and you are empowered for an assignment.
What Is This Assignment?
Galatians 3:13 says "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree." What is a curse? A curse is a negative empowerment enforced by forces of darkness. Christ Himself delivered us from the empowerment of the enemy. Galatians 3:14 says "That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith." Jesus Christ delivered us from the curse of the law so that the blessings of Abraham will come upon us.
What Is the Blessing Of Abraham?
At first, Abraham was operating under a curse but when God met with him, God delivered him and empowered him for an assignment, and that assignment was to be a blessing (Genesis 12:1-3). Abraham was delivered from captivity and the first thing God did was to bless Him. Ultimately, the reason God delivered and empowered us is for us to be a blessing. Therefore, every believer is empowered to be a blessing. The blessing is not just material blessings but spiritual blessings, which is the most important. City of David as a church is a blessing, coupled with the Christian Social Responsibility City of David does. There is no one in God's Kingdom that is unemployed, everyone is empowered. The reason why we don't know this is because we have not taken enough time to check the Word of God, study it, meditate on it and receive the message God is passing across.
There is a purpose for your deliverance. You are not delivered and left alone; you are not delivered and left without care. No matter what area of business or career you are into, there is something you are doing that is meant to be a blessing. Deliverance is total when you begin to be a blessing to others. It is what you do with that blessing God has given you that ensures your future continual deliverance, because it shall be a remembrance before God. You are empowered to be a blessing and you will be a blessing in Jesus Name.
In conclusion, you can only be a blessing to others if you have a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ. If you have never had an encounter with Jesus Christ, surrender to Him today and make Him your personal LORD and Saviour. God will forgive your sins, save your soul, begin a new thing in your life, empower you and translate you to His Kingdom.
