CGMG ABOVE ONLY - Make Knowing God Your Greatest Desire

Make Knowing God Your Greatest Desire

APR. 27

 Luke 10:38-39, 41-42 (NIV)
As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. *"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

Author PhotoOWhat is your greatest desire in this life? One can readily determine the greatest desire of others by the things they think about the most, what you talk about and by what they commit themselves to. The truth is that you make time for what is important to you. Indeed, the proof of passion is pursuit. If knowing God is your greatest desire in life, it will reflect in the way that you sincerely pursue knowing Him and having a strong relationship with Him.

Knowing God is the greatest investment you can make that will benefit you both in this life and in eternity. It will transform your life phenomenally and build your relationship with God. Your relationship with God is the most important relationship you can ever have because it will positively influence every other relationship and your own life beyond anything else. This is why in Philippians 3:10a (GNB), Apostle Paul said, “all I want is to know Christ…”

In our text above, Martha was so worried and upset about so many things. In fact, she even wanted Jesus to rebuke Mary from fellowshipping with Him so that Mary could join in her busyness and worry. Mary, on the other hand, saw everything else as secondary to having an encounter with Jesus. She knew the great blessing, power and grace that would fill her life by virtue of the precious words of life that flowed from Jesus. She saw it as an opportunity to grow in her knowledge of who Jesus is. Are you like Mary or like Martha?
PRAYER FOCUS: Tell God you want to know Him and that knowing Him is your greatest desire. Receive grace to know Him more.
