CGMG ABOVE ONLY - You Were Crucified, Buried and Raised With Christ

You Were Crucified, Buried and Raised With Christ

Galatians 2:20 (NIV), Romans 6:3-4 (NIV)
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. *Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Author1 PhotoJesus did not only die for you and me. We died with Him also. God united us with Christ when He was dying on the cross and when He was buried, we were buried with Him also. When Christ was raised up, we were also raised up with Him into a new life. The moment we believe in Jesus and accept Him as our Lord and Savior, we receive the benefits of this divine operation of God which already took place for us in Christ.

One major thing that occurred during this divine operation of God is that our old sinful life was done away with. In Galatians 6:14, Apostle Paul taught us that because of the Cross of Christ, the world is crucified to him and he is crucified to the world. During our death with Christ, our old sinful life died and we became free from its power. This is also what we declare when we get baptized in water. We declare that we believe what God has already done. We declare that we believe we were united with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection.

Colossians 2:11-12 (GNB) says, “in union with Christ you were circumcised, not with the circumcision that is made by human beings, but with the circumcision made by Christ, which consists of being freed from the power of this sinful self. For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ through your faith in the active power of God, who raised him from death.” In the King James Version, our 2nd text above shows us that this is the key to walking in newness of life.

FAITH DECLARATION:  My old sinful life ended as I died with Christ on the Cross. I have been raised unto a new life and I have the life of Christ.
