Bible Reading Ephesians 5:22-28
Ephesians 5:21 (NIV)
Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Marriage is a sacred and joyful union. A loving and long-lasting marriage does not just happen. It takes work. One of the ways to make your marriage work is to die to self and look out for the good of your spouse.
Marriage is a fusion. You have become one with your spouse. Seeking personal fulfilment and self-gratification are not the ultimate goals of marriage. The Bible admonishes men to love their wives the way Christ loved the Church. Christ loves the church unconditionally. We love Him because He first loved us.
In a similar way, men ought to love their wives and wives ought to submit to their husbands. Submission is not subjugation. Submission is done out of reverence to Christ and this applies to husbands too.
TAKE ACTION
In marriage, be prepared to die to self and love your spouse unconditionally.
