Bible Reading 1 Peter 4:7-10
1 Corinthians 3:17 (NLT)
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Couples often talk about the feeling of ‘being in love’ when they are about to get married. At this point, they cannot do without each other. After marriage however, it takes more deliberate effort for couples to preserve the love they had originally.
Marriage is not a ‘one-day’ affair. It is for a lifetime. It cannot survive on fleeting love. Only preserving, unconditional love that is deeply rooted in Christ can sustain a marriage. Your spouse will not make you happy every time but you must make the choice to love unconditionally.
Unconditional love looks beyond flaws and imperfections. It is love that remains committed during the storms of marriage. When you love your spouse unconditionally, you won’t bail out when things tough. Love that perseveres is what will bring you out stronger after the storms have passed.
TAKE ACTION
Love your spouse beyond his or her imperfection or flaws.
