Repairing and Strengthening Your Altar |

Judges 6:25-26
And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it: And build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down.

God's initial instruction to Gideon was to tear down the altar of Baal which the children of Israel had erected and to set up God's altar. This error was the root cause of the problem the Israelites were facing. God's altar was broken down because their hearts had been turned away from God. Repairing your personal altar begins with ensuring that you are giving God the place that He deserves in your life. Your altar is your secret place of intimacy and fellowship with God. It is the place you meet with God and God meets with you.
Your altar with God serves as a major reflection of your total surrender and dependence on Him. It is a place where you connect to His wisdom and His grace, Heb.4:16. It is a place where you nurture your relationship with Him and you stir up and refresh His power and glory that is upon your life. It is a place where God reveals things to you and gives you further directions for the exploits He has earmarked for you.
God wants there to always be fire on your altar, Lev. 6:13. Your fellowship and communion with God needs to remain alive and vibrant. You have to be deliberate and willing to make sacrifices for this to happen. Jesus guarded His altar (Mark 1:35, Luke 5:16), Daniel guarded his altar, Dan.6:10. Decide today that you will be someone that diligently seeks God because God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him, Heb.11:6. Isaiah 55:6 says, seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Make good use of every opportunity that you have to fellowship with God.
It is where you are refreshed and empowered to do exploits.
PRAYER: I Heavenly Father, I give you the place that You deserve in my life right now and I receive grace to fellowship with You consistently.
