A Carte Blanche!

-JOHN 16:23-33

Key Verse:

"And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full" (John 16:23,24).

It is a privilege for one to receive a signed blank cheque from an account owner, such that one is asked to write any amount one wishes on it and then go ahead to cash it at a designated bank. Obviously, such a recipient will write an amount that is worthy. The name of our Lord Jesus Christ is like a signed blank cheque with which we can receive anything we need from God the Father. Asking the Father shows a sense of spiritual dependence and a desire for spiritual blessings with conviction that they will be received from God. Asking in Jesus’ name and not on account of our righteousness, is to acknowledge our unworthiness to receive any favour from God except through full dependence upon Christ, our righteousness. The Lord Jesus said that the Father will give us all we need because of the Son. The Lord went further to say that the Father loves us dearly because we have loved the Son and have believed that the Son came from the Father. By implication, those who love Christ and believe in Him are those who have given their lives to Christ through the new birth. Such people have repented of their sins and are already cleansed with the blood of Jesus. If you are a child of God through the new birth, you are free to ask anything you need through the Name of Jesus every time, anywhere. Ask the Father your heart’s desires so that your joy can be full. But bear in mind that our asking of the Father of all desires must be situated within the framework of the will of God. If not, you will be asking amiss.
Thought for the day: Christ’s Name: an open door to God’s treasury.
