| The Shield of God's Favour |

Judges6:29-31 (GNB)
…They investigated and found out that Gideon son of Joash had done it. Then they said to Joash, "Bring your son out here, so that we can kill him! He tore down the altar to Baal and cut down the symbol of Asherah beside it." But Joash said to all those who confronted him, "Are you arguing for Baal? Are you defending him? Anyone who argues for him will be killed before morning. If Baal is a god, let him defend himself. It is his altar that was torn down."

After Gideon stepped out by faith to do what God asked him to do, God shielded him with His divine favour. An unusual boldness came upon Gideon's father and he defended Gideon against all those who were crying out for him to be killed because he had destroyed the altar of Baal according to the instructions of the Lord. In fact, Gideon received a new name that day. He began to be called Jerubbaal, meaning “let Baal fight for himself”. In other words, 'leave Gideon alone because he is God's servant. If Baal is really a god, let Baal fight for himself'. In Psalm 3:3 the Bible says, but thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. In the Good News Bible this same verse says, but you, O LORD, are always my shield from danger; you give me victory and restore my courage.Instead of facing shame or danger, God gave Gideon courage to lift his head up again. God shielded him with His divine favour. As you go out in faith to engage in the exploits that God has ordained for you, God will shield you with His divine favour. Instead of the things you were afraid of, you will receive the good things that you were not expecting, Isa.55:12-13. Psalm 5:12 (NIV) says, for surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. You are God's servant and His ambassador. His angels will encamp around you and deliver you from harm,
Psa.34:7. The Bible says, touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm, Psa.105:13-15. Divine favour and protection are your portion this year.
PRAYER: Declare in faith that this year you are shielded and surrounded by God's favour in every area of your life.
