Judges 6:33-35 (NLT)
Soon afterward the armies of Midian, Amalek, and the people of the east formed an alliance against Israel and crossed the Jordan, camping in the valley of Jezreel. Then the Spirit of the Lord took possession of Gideon. He blew a ram's horn as a call to arms, and the men of the clan of Abiezer came to him. He also sent messengers throughout Manasseh, Asher, Zebulun, and Naphtali, summoning their warriors, and all of them responded.

The devil has a way of trying to shake us by making things appear worse the moment we start making progress in our faith and walk with God. When the altar of Baal was still standing, it was only the Midianites that were troubling the Israelites. Now that Gideon had obeyed God and dismantled it, the Midianites gathered other nations to join them in the fight against the Israelites. Exodus 5 shows us that the moment Moses went to ask Pharaoh to release God's children from bondage, Pharaoh doubled the punishment that he had given the children of Israel. As a result, they became angry with Moses for coming to their rescue.
What are you going to do when it seems like things are growing worse even though you have started walking in faith and obeying God? That is the best time to increase your momentum. At the time when it appeared that the threat was getting worse, the Spirit of the Lord came upon Gideon, he blew a trumpet and started to gather an army from the different tribes of Israel.
Allow the Spirit of God to guide you towards progress in line with the exploits He wants you to accomplish. Gideon went back to God for additional reassurance of his call to do exploits and God granted it to him, Judges 6:36-40. Spend more time in God's presence and receive more of His strength. Increase your faith. The devil acts like a roaring lion but the real lion of the tribe of Judah lives in you. Do not shrink back. Instead, launch forward with acceleration.
PRAYER FOCUS: Ask God for a fresh outpouring of His Spirit right now and receive grace to continually increase the momentum of your faith.
