Divinely Protected
-2 KINGS 6:8-12
Key Verse:
"And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber" (2 Kings 6:12).
Testimonies abound of God's divine intervention in the lives of people through the prayer ministration and words of prophesy by genuine men of God. Many have testified of how they were restrained from embarking on a journey or taking certain decisions through the utterances of these generals of God. Some also recounted how they had got delivered from attacks after encountering these servants of God in their dreams, telling them to take certain steps. These are some of the numerous things the children of God enjoy by coming under His protective umbrella. In our text, a terrible evil had been determined by the king of Syria in the secret against the king of Israel and his people. But the all-seeing God is alive and would not allow His people to come to halt. He sent His prophet to "spill the bean", which caused a great confusion in the camp of Syria. The king of the enemy nation wondered why the king of Israel had refused to cross the line, a trap he had set for him, as planned in the secret. He never knew that He that keepeth Israel never sleeps nor slumbers. Believers need not to fear. The angels of God are always on standby to deliver us. When danger is ahead and in front of us, the angels restrain us from going there; and when it is behind us, they propel us to move quickly forward. Surely, the rod of the wicked will never rest on the righteous.
Thought for the day: He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
