Three Dimensions to Spiritual Growth by the Word of God.
Deacon Adekunle AdenugaLuke 2:40 KJV
"And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him."
There are three dimensions to spiritual growth effected by the ministry of the Word of God. They are:
1. Spiritual Strength. Strength comes by the reason of growth and development. Becoming strong in spirit is an outcome of growing up spiritually. Ephesians 6: 10, Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Being strong in the Lord is being strong in the Word, because the Word of God is full of power. In Nehemiah 8: 10, strength comes from the joy of the Lord. Joy is a fruit of our inward man. When the Word of God becomes resident in our spirit, it becomes the rejoicing and joy of our inward man. The more of the Word that resides and abides in you, the more rejoicing and joy you have in your spirit, and the more you become strong in the Lord for the joy of the Lord is strength. Psalm 119: 14, 111; Nehemiah 8: 10; Ephesians 3: 16; Colossians 1: 9-11.
2. Spiritual Wisdom. Wisdom also comes by the reason of growth and development. Wisdom is a product of the spirit man, and is a feature of spiritual growth. 2 Timothy 3: 15, And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
The Word of God is able to make one wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Walking in divine wisdom comes by the reason of knowing and being aware of the working of the Holy Scriptures. It is having the revelation knowledge of the Word and walking in the reality of the revelation. It is called spiritual knowledge. Walking in spiritual wisdom is walking in the knowledge of the Word that has been revealed to you. Philippians 3: 15-16. The Bible declares that Jesus Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. The same Jesus Christ, the Father God has also made unto us wisdom. Jesus Christ has become our wisdom. Hence, to walk in divine Christ-like wisdom is being aware and walking in the knowledge of who you are in Him, of what you have in Him, of what the Father has done for you in Him and of what the Word is doing in you through the Holy Spirit. Proverbs 4: 1-13; 1 Corinthians 1: 30; James 3: 17.
3. Divine Grace. 2 Timothy 2:1 KJV "Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus."
Though, we are saved by grace through faith, the grace can be multiplied and rest upon us by growing up by the Word through the Holy Spirit. You can be made strong and be empowered in the grace in Christ Jesus by letting the Word of Christ dwells richly in you all wisdom. The fullness of the Word in us produces ever-increasing grace in our inward man. For of His fullness we have received and grace upon grace. Grace is multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. The multiplication of grace comes as you give yourself entirely to the Word of God and the teachings of Jesus Christ our Lord. 2 Peter 1: 2-4; 3: 18; John 1: 16-17.
