Growing Up In Christ. Part 8.
The Right Diet For Spiritual Growth.
It is the knowledge of God's Word that helps us to grow. The Word is the spirit food for the spirit man-the hidden man of the heart. The Word of God is spirit; therefore, it is the Word that enhances the growth of the spirit man. Man is spirit; he lives in a body and possesses a soul. Man is a spirit being. His body is the house in which the real man lives.
2 Corinthians 4:16 KJV "For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day."
There is the inward man the spirit man and there is the outward man the body. The inward man is an eternal being for it was created in the image and likeness of God. This inward man is to be renewed day by day through the ministry of the Word of God by the power of the Holy Spirit. The New Birth is a spiritual experience because it is accomplished by the Word of God and the Spirit of God. We are born of the spiritual Father the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Word is spirit, our Father is Spirit, and in fact, the Scripture says He is the Father of all spirits. Since our new birth is a spiritual birth, it follows therefore that our growth is spiritual because it is the growing up of the newborn spirit babies. Growing up requires good and right spiritual diet for the spirit man.
1 Peter 2:2 KJV "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:"
Spiritual growth requires that you desire earnestly the sincere, pure milk of the Word. Newborn babes live on pure, unadulterated milk for growth and development. Milk is the foundational diet for newborn babes. The spirit man is to be constantly fed on the Word of God. The Word of God is the food for our inward man. As much as we constantly and consistently feed our body with the natural, physical food, so much more we are to consistently feed our recreated spirit with the spirit food the Word of God. Spiritual growth therefore requires continuous feeding on the Word. Jeremiah said, I found Your Word and I did eat them You are to find the Word and then you go right ahead and feed them with your spirit man. Eat the Word and get it digested.
Deuteronomy 11:18 KJV "Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes."
Feed your spirit with the Word. Don't go a day without it; you will be starving your inward man. Everything you need in this life is inside your spirit man. The fruit of your recreated spirit can only become manifested by the working of the Word with the Holy Spirit. A Word-starved spirit becomes weak, dull and dry spirit. The forces of life reside in your spirit; the forces that you need to put you over in life are right inside your spirit. These forces can only the released for accomplishment through the forceful power of the Word of God. Hence, the more your spirit is feed with the Word, the more it is strengthened and made active to release these forces for your own advantages. For example, love is fruit of your recreated spirit, but you will never be able to walk and live in love until you begin to feed your spirit with the Word.
The Word of God in you is the ability of God in you. Romans 1: 16 say the gospel of Christ is the power [ability] of God unto salvation to everyone that believes. The working of God in you is according to the power [ability] that works in you. Ephesians 3: 20. This ability resides in the Word of the Almighty God.
Serve your spirit man with the hot-meal of the Word as much as it can take. There is no overeating when it comes to you feeding your inward man. Keep feeding your inward man with the manna of heaven. Live by the bread of life. Be covetous of the bread of life. 1 Corinthians 12: 31. Give your undivided attention to the living, powerful Word of God. Let your inward man be filled with the Word bountifully. Beautify your hidden man of the heart through the Word of God. Meditate on the Word. Philippians 4: 8-9; Joshua 1: 8. Study and research the Word. Be an addicted doer of the Word. 2 Timothy 2: 15; 1 Timothy 4: 13.
